Metrics to track engagement on your website

Everyday, as the buying competition increases, the optimization of the online presence is absolutely necessary for the success of every business.

In order to optimize the user experience on a website or in an online store, we must be able to read its behavior correctly so that we can correct our mistakes.

In this article we present you 5 metrics, which you should check:

#1 Average navigation time

One of the most important metrics for the user experience in a website or in an online store is the average navigation time. This KPI does not have an absolute value, which is generally satisfactory but is adjusted according to the type of page, content and competition. Usually, an average navigation time of more than 1.5 minutes is considered good. Better conclusions can be drawn when comparing individual content pages so that the weakest one can be identified and the appropriate corrections made. For example various categories in eshop products.

#2 Scrolling experience

Another element that contributes to the understanding of consumer behavior is the scrolling exprerience. This metric is more important for pages that contain a lot of text and images such as blogs, articles etc.

#3 Clicks

How many clicks a user clicks on a web page is also an important statistic to evaluate as in most cases an eshop or a web page that it has interesting content leads to more clicks.

#4 Registration in forms

In most websites and eshop there are forms for communication, subscribing to the newsletter and forms for ebooks. The pace and the degree to which they are completed show that users are actively involved with the website and provide information in order to have future communication.

#5 Bounce rate

The bounce rate that appears in analytics is the percentage of users who leave the site without clicking in order to go to another section or content of the site. We want this percentage to be as small as possible. Usually and depending on the subject we are happy when this percentage is less than 40%. To improve this percentage we need to adjust the content so that it is interesting but also gives the user options for next moves.
